PhD networking workshop

— visit from U. Cologne, MPIfR, AIfA, and FZ Jülich

Background

On Tuesday 6 October 2026, the PhD student community at the Collaborative Research Centre CRC 1601 will visit the Niels Bohr Institute.

CRC 1601 is a collaboration between the University of Cologne, the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy (MPIfR), Jülich Forschungszentrum (FZ Jülich), and Argelander-Institute for Astronomy (AIfA). The student collaboration has an annual retreat, this year taking them to Copenhagen.

Aim

The aim of these retreats is mainly for the students to be exposed to different approaches and perspectives in astrophysics, and learn about the research being done in other institutes by meeting and hearing from the scientists behind it. It is intended to facilitate the sharing of ideas and fun scientific discussions for both parties.

The students will first visit Niels Bohr's office at NBI Blegdamsvej, after which they will come to the Niels Bohr Building for science and networking.

The aim for students at NBI is similar:

  • Meet fellow PhD students from other institutes,
  • Exchange ideas and perspectives,
  • Find inspiration for your own work,
  • Get a glimpse of research life at other institutes,
  • Build new scientific connections,
  • Get a sense of the opportunities that exist beyond NBI.

Program

  • (11:00   The CRC1601 students visit NBI Blegdamsvej)
  • 12:30    Arrive at the Niels Bohr Building / DAWN
